OSI Food Solutions received the 2016 Globe of Honor award, given by the British Safety Council. OSI Food Solutions received the award based on its incredible environmental risk management strategies. The OSI Food Solutions company received the award during an awards luncheon held at Drapers’ Hall in London. Eighteen other organizations also received similar awards. These groups showed proper management of environmental risks over the last year. The British Safety Council recognizes this to ensure all companies are aware of the environment. All nineteen companies that received the award received five stars on a environmental management audit run by the council.
OSI Food Solutions recently acquired Baho Food. Baho Food manufactures convenience foods, deli meats and snacks, serving retail and food service spots around the globe. The recent acquisition of Baho Food,, gives OSI Food Solutions a bigger presence in Europe. Baho has five branches with processing plants in both Germany and Netherlands. The five companies were named as Gelderland Frischwaren, Vital Convenience, Henri van de Bilt, Bakx Foods and Q Smart Life, which have served 18 European countries.
OSI Food Solutions is based in Aurora, Illinois and recently purchased a food plant in Chicago that was previously owned by Tyson Foods, for $7.4 million. Tyson shut the plant down October 2016. This purchase will allow OSI Food Solutions grows their capabilities to reach the ever changing needs of customers. The OSI says the facility is 200,000 square feet operating in the Back of the Yards neighbrhood, close to other OSI facilities.
