David McDonald strongly believes in OSI Group’s management strategy. The company’s president notes that running each of the corporation’s facilities independently has contributed to its success. This strategy has been helpful due to varying laws that exists in the different countries where it operates. Presently, the company has active presence in at least 17 countries. By using a one-size-fits-all strategy, the company will not be able to achieve its objective, as countries have different cultures and preferences. The company found it prudent to recruit the locals to run its operations in their respective countries, as they are conversant with consumer tastes.
By virtue of being in the processed-protein-products industry for long, the company has also gained enough experience about different markets. A society may loathe the same product that is loved by another society. It is for this reason that the company saw the need of overseeing all its operations but allowing the locals to run the daily activities of OSI Group’s subsidiaries in different countries. These professionals have a clear understanding of the target market.
OSI Group is a global producer of value-added protein. The company is headquartered in Aurora, Illinois. Moreover, its subsidiaries are spread across Europe, America, and Asia. The subsidiaries are made up of over 80 processing facilities. The facilities produce a wide range of products ranging from processed beef, pork, and poultry to pizzas, vegetables, and other baked products.
During his tenure at OSI Group, David McDonald has played a pivotal role in spearheading the group’s expansion strategy. He has achieved this objective through acquisition of different companies such as Baho Food. David posited that these acquisitions have helped in enhancing the company’s ability to develop and distribute more products under OSI Group’s umbrella. The executive leader has also opened new facilities. One of the markets that have benefited from the new facilities is the Chinese market. Although OSI group ranks as China’s largest producer of processed poultry products, the company seeks to enhance its dominance by increasing its product portfolio. Presently, OSI Group serves renowned companies, including Burger King, Subway, Papa John’s, Saizeriya, Starbucks, Yum, and McDonald’s.
David McDonald is the chief operating officer of OSI Group. Previously, the visionary leader served as the project manager of the company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University.
