Sujit Choudhry Talks about the Growing Interests in Analyzing the Constitution in the Existing Political Environment

Sujit Choudhry is renowned for his role in championing comparative constitutional law. Sujit founded the Center for Constitutional Transitions, which is an organization that assembles Constitutional experts from across the world. The experts help in the production of evidence-based policies that are required by the decision makers and agenda setting.

Earlier this year, Sujit Choundhry featured in an interview in the CEOCFO Magazine that was published on 24th of April this year. Sujit notes that the Center for Constitutional Transitions is an organization that generates and mobilizes knowledge that is used for constitution building by assembling top legal experts who come together to produce evidence-based policies for decision makers and agenda setting research. The organization works in partnership with a global network of multilateral agencies that include NGOs, and think tanks. The organization has worked with over 50 experts from over 25 countries since its establishment.

Sujit has for many years worked as a constitutional advisor for emerging democracies in different parts of the world. He has been writing new constitutions and amending the existing ones as well. During this time, Sujit realized that there is a vast body of knowledge on the questions that come up during constitutional transitions, and issues still arise for which there is a lack of information. Sujit notes that lack of adequate knowledge and proper research impedes the effectiveness of constitutional advice.
